Saale-Ilm-Unstrut Regional Park

In 2019, the city of Jena, the Saale-Holzland district, the Weimarer Land district and the Burgenland district as well as the LEADER action groups Saale-Holzland, Weimarer Land-Mittelthüringen and Naturpark Saale-Unstrut-Triasland took a close look at the opportunities and possibilities of a future regional park for the region between the Saale, Ilm and Unstrut rivers. As part of a feasibility study, the project partners addressed the topics of cultural landscape development, local recreation, leisure and tourism as well as the development of rural areas, sounded out the overall regional need for action and opportunities, developed guiding principles and objectives, collected initial project ideas and discussed possible implementation paths for future organization and financing.

The results of the feasibility study will now be presented at the event. Together with Lord Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche (City of Jena), District Administrator Christiane Schmidt-Rose (Weimarer Land district), District Administrator Götz Ulrich (Burgenland district), District Administrator Andreas Heller (Saale-Holzland district) and the guests, the results and recommendations will be discussed and subsequent steps will be discussed together.
