The planned special area is intended as a location for the large-scale sale of furniture and furnishings. Services associated with the operation of furniture and furnishing stores are also permitted. Furthermore, the existing consumer electronics store is to be integrated into the new location.

To ensure that the planned expansion of the existing sales areas complies with the requirements of regional and state planning, upper limits have been set for the total sales area and for certain peripheral product ranges. The expansion of the existing furniture store was examined in terms of regional planning in a simplified regional planning procedure in 2017.

Krieger Projektentwicklung GmbH intends to upgrade the existing site by demolishing the existing buildings and constructing a new modern furniture store on Stadtrodaer Straße. In connection with the new building, the gap in a footpath and cycle path on the north side of Stadtrodaer Straße is also to be closed.
