Nationwide day of action

We cordially invite all citizens to participate in the Day of Urban Development on 11.05.2019! The nationwide 5th day of action this year in Jena has the motto IMAGINATA - Introduce yourself!

The aim is to inform the public about projects, strategies and objectives of urban development funding.

The city of Jena - represented by the urban redevelopment team - and IMAGINATA e. V. will be presenting the modernization and renovation / new use of the former Jena-Nord substation and the redesign of the outdoor facilities.

After the decommissioning of the former Jena-Nord transformer station with its storage and workshop buildings and the acquisition of the site by IMAGINATA e. V., several construction phases were carried out in recent years, initially to secure the site and, from 1998, to carry out extensive modernization and repair work and to redesign the outdoor facilities.

This work on the technical monument has now been completed and was supported by federal and state urban development funds amounting to around €5,490,000. The city of Jena provided a further €1,160,000. There was no builder's contribution.

IMAGINATA e. V. developed a field of experience in the switching halls and on the outdoor area of the old transformer station where visitors can perceive and marvel, play and ponder, discover and invent. One of the focal points is the station park.

Tour with extensive viewing options

After the opening of the Urban Development Day, there will be a guided tour of the renovated halls and the outdoor area.

You will have the opportunity to ask your questions to the experts from the city administration at any time and will certainly receive interesting information.
